Cork lights are great not only because they can brighten up any occasion and make people smile, but also because they’re super easy to make and anyone can do it. Whether you want to hang them from the ceiling or spread them around a room, these bottle lights with cork are sure to bring light and life wherever you place them! This is how you do it.

To begin, wash the bottles with water, dish soap, and a green scrubber. Cleaning the bottle in this way gets rid of any annoying labels or grime that may have accumulated there. Gather the materials you’ll need for your project next. You may want to keep a few extra pieces of cork on hand in case you make more than one light. You’ll also require a drill, silicone sealant, and super led lights. Cut the strips of cork about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long. Apply the silicone sealant liberally on the bottom edge of each strip where it touches the bottleneck. Place the strip across the mouth of your bottle so that when you place it on top, it will be flush with both sides and not protruding past either side. Gently press down on the strip to secure it. Drill four holes through the cork into the liquid below from the top side of the bottle. To ensure that your wiring and switch have adequate space, one hole should be placed directly across from another hole.
The goal is to make just enough space for the wire from the LED strip to fit into the opening without falling out. Once you’ve drilled a hole large enough for the wire, insert one end of the wire until about an inch of wire remains on either side of the bottle. Wrap electrical tape around both ends of the wire until it’s secure and tightly sealed inside. Next, take another piece of electrical tape and wrap it around the two wires that protrude from one end. Stretch your LED strip lengthwise down the length of the cork before securing it with more pieces of tape on top of this piece of electrical tape. Finally, feed the other end of the wire back up through the bottle’s original hole and seal it off with more tape pieces on both ends. Viola: You now have a gorgeous set of cork-bottle lights that will illuminate any room in style!
